Prayer Shawl Ministry
Are you looking for a ministry of prayer and care for others? The Prayer Shawl Ministry may be a way for you to reach out with love and care to others who are hurting or who may need a special blessing. The Creation of loving prayer shawls for people needing the warm arms of concern wrapped around them is part of the mission of the Quentin United Church of Christ to be a caring, joyful, and welcoming church in our community. The Prayer Shawl Ministry members knit or crochet shawls that are given to persons who are ill, have suffered a loss, or are in the midst of a life crisis. We also give them to new members, graduates, confirmands, and those celebrating special occasions to let them know our church is thinking and praying about them. The group currently meets every month, on the 1st Tuesday at 7 pm in the Gathering Place at the church. We join in fellowship, work on shawls and pray for the recipients of their work. You can join our Prayer Shawl Ministry by getting involved in making shawls with us or by requesting a shawl for a friend or loved one you know that is in need. If you wish to make a donation either for yarn or postage, we welcome your contribution.

Parish Nursing
WHAT IS PARISH NURSING?………………
Parish Nursing is: Caring, Support, Health, Healing, Education and Resources !
Our mission as parish nurses is to assist the congregation with health and healing and facilitate health awareness and disease prevention holding the spiritual dimension to be central to our practice.
A Parish Nurse functions as
- an integrator of faith and health
- health educator
- personal health counselor
- referral agent
- trainer of volunteers
- developer of support groups
- health advocate
Services which Parish Nurses offer:
- home visits to assess needs and help find resources
- post hospitalization visits to check on the healing process and answer any questions
- visitations in extended care facilities and nursing homes
- blood pressure checks
- educational seminars at church for health promotion and disease prevention
- provide educational materials
- end of life care needs and support
- consultation regarding initiation and integration of health and caring ministry support
We will do everything we can to meet the health care needs of our congregation but there are limitations as to what we can provide. We are not a 24 hour home health agency and we are not allowed to perform any invasive type of nursing function. We will work closely with the Pastor to provide the support, care and resources which are needed. We look forward to serving our congregation.
