Our worship is traditional in format with organ and piano music, a vocal choir, hymns, scripture readings, prayers, occasional dramas, and a word from the pastor connecting our faith and the bible with the world at large.
Our choir sings during worship services and then takes a break in the summer when there is special music (solos ensembles, etc.) It is our desire to conclude our services in an hour, with some exceptions on communion Sundays. We do our best to follow the lead of the Holy Spirit in every service so that we don’t rush through or unnecessarily prolong our worship experience, but we don’t worry either if someone needs to leave.
We celebrate communion six times a year on high Holy Days such as Epiphany Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Easter, Pentecost, World Communion Sunday and the beginning of Advent as we prepare for Christmas. We believe that the Lord’s Table is truly God’s Table and Christ is the host. The Table of the Lord is open to all who wish to eat at the table with Christ and in fellowship with others.
Baptism is the symbolic entry into the Church of Jesus Christ. It is a personal and community celebration and thus typically performed in the context of a worship service. While our primary tradition is infant baptism, we know there are families whose tradition is waiting for individuals to make that decision themselves. Thus, we periodically offer adolescents a confirmation class — to confirm those who were previously baptized and to prepare those for baptism who now wish to become disciples of Christ. We also offer adult believer baptism.
